As the most densely populated state in the nation, New Jersey has lost much of its natural beauty and far too much of its precious open space to development.
Today the State is actively assessing 130 acres of land on the Greystone property that is protected by law. The potential for new subdivisions and strip malls is grave. We need to keep our open space, expand our opportunities to enjoy parkland and wilderness and preserve the architectural treasures that make New Jersey unique.
Open space ensures the health and diversity of plants and wild animals; supports New Jersey's thriving outdoor tourism industry; eliminates the burden on our already overstressed infrastructure including schools, roads, utilities, sewer systems, etc.; can help purify our water and clean our air and help prevent soil erosion, storm water runoff and flooding; and increases local property value.
The following websites provide information on New Jersey's Open Space.
